The problem: interest arrives faster than you can type
Indian sellers on Instagram sell through reels and posts. The buying signal is a comment: "price", "size available?", "link". The reply that matters is the one sent in the next few minutes, with the product name, price and a way to buy. A seller doing this manually answers the first twenty, misses the rest, and still has to copy the product link into each DM.
Generic "auto DM" tools reply with the same text to everyone. Buyers can tell, and the message usually does not contain the actual product they commented on. The useful version knows which reel the comment is on and which product that reel sells.
How comment-to-DM works on CatalogHub
Connect your Instagram account
Connect a professional (Business or Creator) Instagram account through Meta's Instagram login. You can connect more than one account to a store.
Link your reels and posts to products
Link a reel or post to the product it sells. This link is what lets the system know which product a comment is about, so the DM carries that product and not a generic message.
A comment arrives
The system replies publicly on the comment with a short line such as "details are in your DM". You can write your own reply lines; if you do not, it picks from a default set, after a short random delay so replies do not all fire at the same second.
The product goes to the commenter's DM
The commenter receives a message with the product card: image, name, price and a button to your store. From there they check out with UPI, cards or partial COD, and the order appears in your orders list.
Keywords get their own reply
Create keyword rules, for example "price" or "size". When a comment is exactly that word, the rule's reply is posted on the comment.
Spam is hidden, not answered
Comments containing phone numbers are hidden by default, and you can add your own blocked words. Nested replies under another comment are never auto-answered, so the bot does not lend credibility to impersonators.
DM auto-replies for shared reels, screenshots and links
Customers also DM you a reel they saw, a screenshot of a kurta or a product link. If the reel is linked to a product, or the screenshot matches an item in your catalogue through image search, CatalogHub replies with the matching product card straight away. If several products match, it sends them as one carousel message rather than a burst of separate ones, which is safer for your account.
If a customer shares a reel that is not linked to a product yet, they are not auto-answered. You get a notification saying how many people asked about it, so you know which reel to link next.
Honest limits, set by Meta
What Meta requires
- A professional Instagram account (Business or Creator); personal accounts cannot use the messaging API
- DMs can be sent to someone who messaged you within the last 24 hours
- A commenter can be sent a private reply to their comment, once per comment and within 7 days of the comment
- Keep replies relevant to what the person asked; Meta can restrict accounts that send unwanted promotional messages
What CatalogHub does not do yet
- Free-form DM sequences and welcome-message flows are marked "coming soon" in the app
- Keyword rules match the whole comment exactly, not a word inside a longer sentence
- Instagram and Facebook post scheduling is not live yet
- Comment replies are throttled by design, so they are quick but not instant
